The Brazilian northeast is known for being a region full of natural beauty, history, remarkable culture, mouth-watering cuisine and, above all, a very happy and receptive population.
It is no surprise that the region is one of the most sought after by those traveling through Brazil, especially in the hot seasons of the year – or during traditional festival times such as the São João festivals.
Therefore, here we have selected the best destinations to travel to in the Northeast. Check out:
Alagoas – Maceió
Alagoas receives many tourists, mainly due to its hot and humid climate. And with its beautiful beaches and incredible and cozy hotels, Maceió invites Brazilians to enjoy their holidays almost all year round, as the rainy season only occurs in winter, specifically between May and June.
Maceió has an interesting culture with its colonial history and typical dances and gastronomy with various delicacies such as sururu and shrimp goma.
With its beaches with crystal clear waters, the strip of sand is always full of tourists and the hotel and restaurant infrastructure is very good. In the district of Jatiúca, in the capital of São Paulo, there is the beach of the same name where we enter one of the most beautiful coastlines in Maceió
This urban beach has a sea of crystal clear, transparent greenish waters, soft reddish sand and many coconut trees.
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Maceió is known as “Temple of the Emperor” because it was visited so frequently by Dom Pedro II that the square in which it is located is named after the Emperor.
Located in the city center, it is a neoclassical building designed by a French architect that stands out for its grandeur.
Paraíba – João Pessoa
There are many cultural activities in João Pessoa and throughout the city there are monuments and historical buildings, as well as traces and influences of the Portuguese and Dutch cultures that colonized the region.
In addition to the typical cuisine, which has different styles in each corner of the state (to learn more about all the flavors of the Northeast, I recommend reading the article Typical foods from the Northeast: the most exquisite flavors).
Tourism in João Pessoa is famous for the city's seafront.
Unlike the hustle and bustle of a big city, where you only hear horns and chaotic traffic, the city does not have the charm of a capital, but rather the comfort and diversity of a capital.
The title Porta do Sol comes from João Pessoa, the easternmost city in America, which is why it is the first place where the sun rises on the entire continent.
João Pessoa was also elected the second greenest capital in the world, one of the capitals with the best quality of life in the Northeast and one of the best cities to enjoy retirement.
Tambaú Beach is lively day and night, Tambaú is the starting point for trips to the natural pools of Picãozinho, where you can snorkel and see lots of fish.

It is possible to reach the island by boat from Salvador or Valença, a true oasis for those who want to enjoy a relaxing holiday.
Salvador, Bahia
Salvador is known for its unique climate and atmosphere. The capital of Bahia holds a lot of joy, friendliness and enthusiasm, attracting people all year round, but it is during Carnival that the city gains even more visibility and becomes a very popular outdoor party.
