If you want to travel to a country where you can have the most diverse and incredible experiences, create a travel itinerary for Italy.

Located in southern Europe, Italy is divided into twenty regions that offer a wealth of history, art, culture, gastronomy and natural beauty. Your trip is sure to be incredible and unforgettable!

What travelers can't miss when traveling in Italy

Of course, every trip itinerary is extremely personal, but there are some places that need to be visited.

It is difficult to explore the entire “Boot” in just a few days. There are many cities, many stories, lots of high-quality cuisine, a highly artistic country and, of course, wonderful natural beauty.

Let's get to know some places!

Pomegranate

Pomegranate – the capital

You can start your trip in the city of Rome, which is the capital of Italy and where the main tourist attractions are located.

It is possible to visit the Colosseum, an important historical monument that was built around 80 AD and is among the 7 Wonders of the Modern World and which impressively survived two world wars.

In the city you can visit the famous Trevi Fountain, which enchants with its magnitude and wealth of details.

There are other tourist attractions that are also worth visiting: Roman Forum, Palatine, Arch of Constantine, Pantheon, among others, which can be visited in a quicker and simpler way to adapt to your itinerary.

Gastronomy is also a highlight of the trip: there are several restaurants with tables spread out along the sidewalks and offering delicious typical dishes.

Also within Rome is the Vatican City State, a city-state that was founded in 1929 through the Lateran Treaty. The smallest country in Europe is the seat of the Catholic Church – and the official residence of the Pope – and has St. Peter's Basilica, the Vatican Museum with a multitude of artistic works and the Sistine Chapel.

Venice and its canals

Venice is located in the northeastern part of Italy, in the Veneto region, and is well-known for its maze of canals – the city is actually a tangle of 118 islands – which offer romantic gondola rides through them and run through the entire city. It is worth visiting the Basilica di San Marco and the square where it is located, called Piazza San Marco.

To get a bird's eye view of the city, head to the Campanile di San Marco, the tallest tower in the city and one of the symbols of Venice. Another symbol of this charming city is the Pallazzo Ducale, a castle that impresses with its antiquity and architecture. Venice has many bridges and narrow streets that make a simple stroll a very pleasant adventure.

The city of Venice is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Florence – cradle of the Italian Renaissance

The city of Florence is in the Tuscany region, located in central Italy. It is well-known for its museums and Renaissance works of art.

The Gallerie dell'Accademia and the Galleria degli Uffizi house an important collection of paintings and sculptures by renowned artists and painters, such as Michelangelo and his work "David", Botticelli, with "The Birth of Venus" and Caravaggio, with "Bacchus".

Other tours that are also worth taking are: the Ponte Vecchio, which crosses the Arno River and is one of the symbols of Florence, and the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, known as the Duomo.

There are several squares scattered throughout the city, with several cafes and ice cream shops. Piazza della Repubblica, for example, is one of the most visited squares in Florence.

Palermo – and its Byzantine influence

Palermo is a city in southern Italy, located in the region of Sicily, the largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as it portrays the cultural fusion between Byzantine, Islamic and Western cultures.

It is well known for the natural beauty of its beaches, especially the huge rocks and the striking blue of the water. The most famous beach is Mondello, which draws attention for its calm sea and fine white sand.

The city also has 17th-century palaces, theaters, and churches. Not far from Palermo, you can visit several wineries and taste a variety of wines. You can take a bike ride through the vineyards and explore the small villages scattered throughout the region.

Milan – the city of fashion

Milan

Milan is a city located in the Lombardy region, in northern Italy. It is known as the capital of haute couture and is therefore the epitome of Italian sophistication, especially when it comes to gastronomy and shopping.

As tourist attractions, it is recommended to visit the Milan Cathedral (Duomo), Piazza del Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele – which features a mosaic with the symbol of the city of Turin, much appreciated by superstitious people -, the Davidic Cenacle or better known as the Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci and Castello Sforzesco.

Pisa – and the famous tower

Pisa is a city located in the Tuscany region, in central Italy. The city's main tourist attraction is the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which was designed to be the bell tower of the Duomo.

This construction, which dates back to the 12th century, was undertaken without a real understanding of the instability of the soil. Due to its unsuccessful foundation, when it reached the third floor the tower began to lean and began to attract a large number of tourists.

But the city is not only its leaning tower, it features the Cathedral of Pisa, which is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and Piazza dei Miracoli, a square that can be considered one of the largest medieval complexes in Europe.
