Colombia is a surprising and wonderful place to spend your holidays, and Brazilians do not need a visa to enter the country.


Tourist hotspots
Bogotá
Bogotá is the capital of Colombia, being the largest city in the country. It is modern and has a beautiful infrastructure, where public transport works, which helps you get to know the city without spending a lot. Its tourist attractions provide a pleasant stay with many places to visit.
One of these places is Cerro Monserrate from where you can see the entire city at 3,200 meters high. This place houses a sanctuary and has people capable of better guiding tourists. The ways to get to the top are via cable car or train (funicular).
In the city there are several museums that talk about the country's history, such as the Museo Nacional de Colombia and the Museo del Oro and Museo de la Esmeralda that tell the story during Spanish colonization.
Inside the city it is possible to enjoy the natural climate such as the Salto del Tequendama waterfall, which is 30 km from the center of Bogotá, which welcomes tourists who want to admire the waterfall of almost 160 meters.
Another tourist attraction is the Salt Cathedral in Zipaquirá, which is 50 km from the center and which houses carved walls, altars and even Via Crucis passages made of salt ceramics.
In the historic center there are many buildings influenced by colonial architectural models, including the government headquarters.
There is also the Sanctuary of the Virgin Guadalupe, La Candelaria, Zones G, T, Rosa, Park 93, Villa de Leyva, Colombian Caribbean, etc.


Medellin
The city of Medellín is the so-called “City of Eternal Spring” which provides tourists with contact with a modern city with a good public transport system. There are squares and parks where free shows and events take place.


Cartagena
The city of Cartagena was one of the most important ports on the American continent, as it was through this place that the Spanish took the discovered wealth to the European continent and where there was intense traffic in African slaves.
Throughout colonial times, it suffered many invasions and attacks by French, English and Dutch troops. It was these invasions that led to the construction of an 11 kilometer long wall around it.
Also known as the “jewel of the Colombian Caribbean”, Cartagena has beautiful landscapes with streets surrounded by mansions with colorful balconies, churches and squares. It has many options for going out at night and having fun and tourists can easily find good, cheap food, with lots of fish and seafood.

One of the places to visit is the Walled City, which is surrounded by the country's history and where you will find several bars and restaurants with beautiful menus.
The Rosario Archipelago takes about an hour by boat from the center of Cartagena with clear waters filled with various species of fish. Some of these islands are private.


San Andrés
It is the destination for those who like clean beaches and beautiful views. You can go diving and also do a lot of shopping in the center of San Andrés. The beach that concentrates the largest number of tourists is Peatonal, which has a sea with calm waters. The island is very small, around 30 km long.
On the Pirate Boat there are always unmissable attractions during the 2-hour tour that passes through San Andrés Bay with live music.


Tayrona Park
The park is 35 kilometers long, is part of the city of Santa Marta and is one of the most visited places in the Colombian Caribbean. The waters in this region are calm, clean with white sand, vegetation and trails.


Lost City
It was proclaimed a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, being a place that was inhabited by an ancient civilization. To reach it you need to walk a few days along the Sierra Nevada trail.


Crystal Canyons
It is called the “River of five colors” which has different shades of color due to the presence of certain algae. The best time to observe these colors is from June to December.


Salento
Salento is one of the places that offers the best coffee in the world. It is a small town linked to Eje Cafetero and is one of the main tourist attractions for Colombians and foreigners who want to see the coffee plantations.


What to eat?
Colombian cuisine has Spanish, Andean, African, Caribbean and Creole influences with dishes made with corn, bananas, cassava and avocado. Colombia also has a great diversity of typical fruits.


Patacón
Patacón is one of the typical Colombian dishes in which green bananas are fried or roasted open like a pizza. It can be an accompaniment to different dishes and can be used as a snack, just including different fillings.


Grandilla
This is a fruit that is sweet when ripe and can be eaten for breakfast, snacks, etc.


Pitaya
It is another typical Colombian fruit with a yellow or pink skin that is also sweet.

empanadas
It is a dough filled with meat, chicken or vegetables that forms a half moon and is most often baked in the oven.


Arepa
It is a type of bread made from corn, stuffed with chicken or meat.


Ajiaco
Ajiaco is a soup made with pieces of chicken, corn, guasca and potatoes.


Naranjilla
Naranjilla is a plant from the tomato family, but its skin has an orange color, being rich in vitamin C with a flavorful pulp.

Best time to travel to Colombia
Colombia can be visited every year. Just choose which climate you prefer. Most of the country has an average of 15ºC. From May to June the days are longer and more frequent in April and May and between September and December. However, the coastal areas are hot, humid with little rain.
